Formnext 2025… News, Technologies, Materials

A few days ago we were able to attend the tenth anniversary of Formnext 2025, which took place from November 18 to 21, 2025 in Frankfurt, Germany. If the previous edition focused on speed improvements, this one has told us about integration, ultra-precision and industrialization solutions.

Formnext has established itself as the international meeting point for the next generation of intelligent production and the leading platform for Additive Manufacturing (AM). The main focus of the fair is to promote the industrialization of the sector, demonstrating how manufacturing solutions offer a competitive advantage, especially in demanding sectors such as mechanical engineering.

Manufacturers are no longer competing on specs alone; while we’ve seen brushstrokes in previous years, the battle is for the entire ecosystem

As with the SIMO Education 2025  3Dwork, with the help of our collaborator 3D-Informatik we were able to be at this more than interesting fair of reference in additive manufacturing.

Next, we will show you a tour of the manufacturers and technologies that, for 3Dwork, will set the course for 2026 and we will mainly focus on those brands with which we usually collaborate and that either currently or in the future we will bring you here.

Anycubic

Anycubic is a very special brand for us, many years collaborating with them… who are always interested in suggestions to improve their products and who are always innovating and improving their products.

On the part of Anycubic its novelties were basically focused on 3 products… the Kobra S1 Max, the Kobra X and the Photon P1 in resin. These machines follow the path marked by previous families but betting more on putting in the hands of amateur users characteristic of professional machines… stable, predictable machines compatible with a wide range of materials where Anycubic has a good ecosystem adaptable to any user and need.

Starting with the Anycubic Kobra S1 Max, which its normal version the Kobra S1 we loved… we find a CoreXY printer with a generous print volume of 350x350x350 mm³, which incorporates an active heating system for the enclosure of up to 65º, with a hotend that can reach up to 350ºC and its heated bed at 120ºC. A machine for large projects and fully prepared for technical materials such as PC, PA, ABS and fiber composites.

As for the characteristics of the machine, we have a print volume of 260x260x260 mm³, with speeds of up to 600mm/s, a machine that we found very quiet, perfect to be used anywhere. Improvements have also been made to the levelling system, the heated bed with better temperature distribution and the typical smart and remote management options that Anycubic usually incorporates into its machines

Finally, the Anycubic Photon P1, a resin printer with sensational finishes with industrial-grade components. A machine that accepts resins up to 8000 cps, a double platform and deposit system especially useful for professional use that also incorporates a new double layer system for Wave Release Film + NFEP that promises to reduce peel tensions between layers by 60%.

3DWork - Formnext 2025... News, Technologies, Materials - image 29 edited - Articles, Electronic boards

In terms of materials, SUNLU showed materials such as PEBA, PP and PEEK. We were surprised by PEBA, which is becoming more and more important as a successor to flexible materials such as TPU.

Regarding their range of resins, they showed us their CMYK+W color range and their 14K formulations to obtain the greatest detail in our prints.

Finally, they presented their novelties in filament maintenance machines where we highlight the new AMS Heater that improves the first generation AMS systems. Although we would also like to highlight solutions such as the FilaDryer E2 with which we can reach up to 110ºC, perfect for demanding technical materials… or the FilaDryer SP2 a solution to keep and store our filaments in perfect condition.

We have to say that at 3Dwork we usually use both materials and SUNLU’s material maintenance solutions, which you can surely see in our reviews.

TOOCAA

We also took the opportunity to visit the colleagues of TOOCAA and their laser engraving/cutting solutions. Especially its new TOOCAA NOVA machine that we hope will reach us soon so we can analyze it and compare it with the great TOOCAA L2 that we already reviewed for you.

3DWork - Formnext 2025... News, Technologies, Materials - image 31 - Articles, Electronic boards

The TOOCAA NOVA has some very interesting features as well as a more polished design than the one we could see in the L2… In addition to having compatibility with rotary tools, visual positioning thanks to the integrated camera, security measures, great compatibility of materials for engraving/cutting, different options of interchangeable laser modules… We are an excellent option if we want a capable and compact machine, for a working volume of an A4 (287*210mm).

Others…

The number of interesting manufacturers and technologies are so wide that we would need hours to explain them all, in any case we visited some of our collaborators such as:

Azurefilm

It is one of the filaments that we usually use due to its quality, price and availability of materials of all kinds. At the Azurefilm stand we could see all their new ranges of filaments and materials that we hope we can test soon!

We would highlight its line of PETG filaments with an amazing range of colors. Also the PLA Strongman range, designed to be as resistant as ABS but with the ease of printing of PLA. On the other hand, we liked their Silk Multicolor filaments with shiny finishes.

In addition, during the event we were able to enjoy demonstration sessions of their products and some other raffles. We also liked their sustainability initiatives, such as the use of reusable Master Spool systems and filaments with refill packaging to reduce plastic waste.

Dyze Design

Dyze Design is one of the companies that we worked closely with in our beginnings, although it may not be well known to many, its extrusion solutions are among the best on the market, although they are usually more focused on large-scale industrial 3D printing.

3DWork - Formnext 2025... News, Technologies, Materials - image 33 - Articles, Electronic boards

We could see the Aurora controller, Pulsar and Typhoon extruders, the Zephyr as well as other premium components such as the Orthus. We have still had your solutions mounted on one of our printers for years with exceptional performance and quality.

3Dwork summary

We have reached the end of this article and we would like to finish by way of summary…

Efficiency and multi-material solutions were an important part of the novelties presented, the manufacturers showed different solutions.

For example, Prusa colleagues showed their machine with the integrated INDX system, perhaps it seems to us the best solution of all balancing quality, speed and cost.

3DWork - Formnext 2025... News, Technologies, Materials - image 35 - Articles, Electronic boards
3DWork - Formnext 2025... News, Technologies, Materials - image 34 - Articles, Electronic boards

This solution comes from the collaboration between Prusa Research and Bondtech resulting in the Bondtech INDX, a multi-material tool head designed for the Prusa CORE One printer. This system focuses on quick material changeover (in seconds) using induction heating and a self-adjusting dual feeder. The platform allows up to eight nozzles to be mounted on a single head with a spacing of 35 mm, minimizing the size of the purge.

On the other hand, Bambu Lab presented the H2C, a desktop printer designed to advance multi-material printing for professional users. We thought his solution was good, especially to see it in place, but with some doubts about whether it will really bring such a radical change in the reality of normal use.

The innovation lies in the Vortek Hotend Change system, a matrix of six non-contact hotends that allows up to seven materials to be used per job. This system is remarkable because it generates no purging waste and is expandable to 24 materials with the AMS system. The hotends remember previous filament assignments, and the machine handles the calibration automatically.

We could also see the aforementioned improvements in the Anycubic ACE GEN2 systems of the Kobra X, the Elegoo Canva system of the Centauri Carbon 2 or that of Bigtreetech with VIVID, a multi-material solution that promises compatibility with Klipper-based printers being an open multi-material commercial option.

While solutions such as the ACE, CFS, Canva, BTT VIVID prioritize maximum color capability and open affordability/compatibility, the new INDX and Vortek H2C systems focus on the multi-tool/multi-nozzle concept. The latter seek to eliminate purging waste and achieve an almost instantaneous tool change, moving towards a system where the printer can be truly multifunctional beyond simple filament extrusion.

Another battlefield that we could see isthat of ultra-resolution and speed in resin printers such as the Anycubic Photon P1, Elegoo Saturn 4 16K or Jupiter 2, PioCreat3D HALOT X1… A precision that is accompanied by resins that allow these machines to get the most out of their potential and with technologies to simplify their use for their users.

Special attention is also being paid tothe brand ecosystems where brands such as Bambu Lab, Anycubic, Creality, Elegoo and others are doing a lot of work to improve the user experience… and “capture” it within its ecosystem.

And so far our passage through this sensational, one more year, Formnext 2025 that was the demonstration that additive manufacturing is not a promise or a fad…. is ready to be a key technology of the future.
